The facility in Framingham, Massachusetts is one of the first to take a digital approach to using intensified, continuous biologics production technology. It uses new technology to connect the production process with research and development, an approach Sanofi believes will pave the way for improved commercialisation of important new medicines for patients.
In line with the company’s R&D pipeline, the facility will accelerate the recent transformation of Sanofi’s Industrial Affairs organisation to focus on biologics-based therapies.
The facility will use advanced paperless and data-driven manufacturing technologies to help it achieve higher levels of productivity, agility and flexibility. Sanofi hopes this will reduce the time it takes for products to move from the development labs to the manufacturing, ultimately meeting patient needs around the world.

Sanofi has been dedicated to digitally transforming its manufacturing processes in an effort to respond to fast-changing patient needs and speeding up the commercialisation of new medicines emerging from the R&D pipeline.
The company’s Framingham facility is the latest biologics manufacturing plant amongst a number of pilots which are being accelerated across Sanofi’s network. The advances made at Framingham will be deployed and standardised across the company.
