Dear colleagues,
With great pleasure, we invite you to participate in the 7th Meeting of The European Society for Virology (ESV), to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 28 April – 1 May 2019.
ESV was founded in 2008 to provide a forum for investigators of human, animal, plant, fungal, insect, archaeal and bacterial viruses. Our intention is to organize a meeting that will be of interest to this broad range of virologists, in a manner that stimulates discussion and collaboration among scientists active in all aspects of virology. To reflect this, we have installed a scientific advisory board with leading scientists from each of these areas. The meeting will have a mixture of 6 cross disciplinary plenary sessions, and 20 thematic sessions, for which we are currently receiving suggestions from a wide range of virologists. Each session will host a state-of-the art speaker. We are delighted that professor Racaniello has agreed to be present to record some TWIV podcasts. As the meeting will be held in a theatre, we expect to be able to do this in front of an audience, for which we will give preferential access to PhD students and post docs.
We look forward to welcoming you to Rotterdam, a great multi-ethnic urban city and famous for its prominent skyline, the biggest harbor of Europe, fine museums and restaurants, modern architecture and maritime tourist attractions.
Marion Koopmans (Rotterdam) and Ben Berkhout (Amsterdam)
